The Factory Franklin TN

The Pharmacy Burger Parlor and Beer Garden will be opening at the Factory in 2017.

Nashville’s “Wurst-Burger” Joint is also its original biergarten, boasting an impressive selection of German wurst and bier, as well as an old-school soda fountain serving legendary phosphates, milkshakes, and ice cream sodas.

The Pharmacy Burger Parlor & Beer Garden believes in serving the very best products at the very best value. We use 100% Tennessee-raised beef for our legendary burgers and 100% pure cane sugar in our sodas. We boast Music City’s hardest-working kitchen that grinds, stuffs, and smokes every wurst (sausage) that we serve. We prefer to craft our condiments as opposed to purchasing them. Our beer selection is the most unique and meticulously-selected you’re likely to find. Our biergarten is so welcoming and beautiful, that you will find yourself listlessly wasting hours at a time without noticing. We are proud of our accolades, but take more pride in our community. A great day is when everyone leaves happy. We are always glad that you came, and even happier to see you return.

Drake’s Franklin TN Specials of the Month

Drake’s Franklin November Specials
What’s Cookin’ Franklin –

This month we are giving thanks to another awesome round of beer, burger, and sushi! Chef Alan, Sushi Chef Keith Oo, and Beverage Manager Michael Harper have gathered around the dinner table to present a cornucopia of flavors just in time for fall. We start with the Turkey Brie Burger with all the fixins’ including a seasoned turkey patty, sweet potato fries and cranberry mayo. Then we have the Harvest Roll featuring fried crabstick, seared tuna, and cool pineapple salsa. After filling our bellies, before the football comes on, we can raise our glass to this fine feast with a Delicious IPA from Stone Brewing Company. Give thanks for good taste this November at Drake’s!

A seasoned, seared turkey burger with creamy brie cheese, sweet potato fries, cranberry mayo and fresh cut garden toppings; served with your choice of side.

An intensely citrusy, beautifully bitter beer is worthy of the simple-yet-lordly title of Stone Delicious IPA. Lemondrop and El Dorado hops combine to bring on a magnificent lemon candy-like flavor that’s balanced by hop spice.

Fried crab stick, cream cheese and cucumber wrapped in seaweed and sushi rice, topped with seared salmon, pineapple salsa and eel sauce.

Tucker’s House Nashville TN

Tucker’s Story – Tucker’s House

Tucker was born a healthy and beautiful nine- pound baby boy. He looked so much like his big brother, and his parents, Josh and Alisha (Sunny’s son and daughter-in-law), were excited to get their baby home to start a new adventure as a family of four. They had no idea exactly how difficult that adventure would be. On Tucker’s second day of life he had his first seizure.

Tuckers_House_FB_IO (1) - Copy

Tucker’s seizures were soon diagnosed as Infantile Spasms, a particularly damaging type of seizure. Over the next several weeks (between CT scans, MRI’s, EEG’s and every blood test imaginable), Tucker was averaging fifty to seventy-five seizures a day. Almost every anti-seizure medication available —some with life-threatening side effects—was tried to stop the seizures. At one point, the neurologist was considering removing half of Tucker’s brain. The family was told if the doctors could not get the multiple seizures under control, Tucker might not survive.

Amazingly, Tucker’s seizures abruptly stopped when he was four months old. To this day he is seizure free, but the seizures he had left damage in their wake. Even though Tucker is happy and absolutely delights everyone who knows him, he does not walk or talk. When Tucker was three-and-a-half years old, it became very clear that Josh and Alisha were going to need special accommodations in their home in order for Tucker to use his gait trainer and carry out his daily therapy. They could also see that it wouldn’t be long before they would need a bathroom modification which would include a wheelchair accessible shower.

Seeing their need and wanting to lend support, Sunny began her search for any programs that would help families make their homes safe, accessible, and therapy friendly. She spoke with clinicians, therapists and families of children with special needs, and it soon became evident that there were no such programs. Nor were there financial resources to fully provide funding for these modifications.

Families with a special needs child spend so much money on medical care, therapy, special equipment and training, school, child care, and other essentials that often they have nothing left for home modification. Even though the retrofit would make a huge difference in their lives, it is a necessity they simply cannot afford.

Tucker’s family is blessed to have him, and he has inspired something very special. Sunny, her family, and our Board of Directors are excited to serve the community through the mission of Tucker’s House.

What We Do

Tucker’s House is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been developed to partner with families of children with disabilities and their healthcare providers to provide assistance through specialized retrofitting resources so that their houses can become “home”. We assist families to retrofit their home to meet their specific immediate, intermediate and long term needs that make their home a place that is not only accessible and safe but also provides an environment to where they can achieve their potential.

Franklin TN – overhaul of a prominent building

Developers are embarking on a $14 million overhaul of a prominent — and out-of-place — building in the heart of historic downtown Franklin.

The project further fuels reinvestment that’s headed for downtown, at a time when a multibillion-dollar construction pipeline in the city’s Cool Springs commercial hub has been (understandably) hogging all the attention, on the east side of Interstate 65.
This rendering depicts the $14 million overhaul planned for the First Tennessee building at 231 Public Square, in downtown Franklin. The figures note how developers want to make a corner of the building taller, to accommodate a rooftop venue.

On Thursday, First Tennessee Bank said that it’s under contract to sell its building at 231 Public Square to a trio of developers led by Bernie Butler, of Franklin’s D9 Development.

The ensuing project could attract white-collar offices and two new restaurants to a downtown already teeming with retail. Butler believes his project will set the tone for what he sees as the inevitable redevelopment of City Hall, behind the First Tennessee building. It’s just one block from a proposed $82 million development that would include a boutique hotel, luxury apartments and retail space — remaking a prominent entrance to downtown.

“This is an opportunity to fix this anchor part of the square,” Butler told me. “We have one chance to do things perfectly.”

Butler declined to disclose what price he is paying for the building, along with fellow development partners Crews Investments Properties and Heartland Partners, of Franklin and Brentwood, respectively.

Downtown Franklin consists mostly of buildings from the 1800s and early 1900s. The First Tennessee building was built in 1972.

“This building, architecturally, is the sore thumb in the complexion of this historic part of downtown. If you’ve seen a hundred pictures of downtown, you never see one of this building. There’s a reason,” Butler said. “It never really blended into the historic flavor of downtown, and everybody knows that.”

First Tennessee signed a new, seven-year lease that keeps its bank branch on the ground floor. A restaurant also will occupy part of the ground floor, with private dining in the basement, Butler said.

The second and third floors will be renovated for high-end office space. Combined, the two floors are 25,000 square feet. Butler said he’ll divide that up into smaller spaces, perhaps 2,000 square feet or 4,000 square feet.

For local business owners in Williamson County the turning of the new year means an opportunity to bolster their reputations: the Sizzle Awards.
The Sizzle Awards honor local businesses in cuisine, shopping, services, health and wellness and personal care. Members of the community vote for their favorite in each in a variety of categories like “Best New Restaurant” or “Best Youth Music Instruction.”
Presented by Southern Exposure Magazine, Williamson Herald and FranklinIS, the awards are something business owners mark on their calendar according to founder and Southern Exposure Publisher, Brandy Blanton.

Sizzle Adwards

“Business owners always look forward to it,” Blanton said.
“It’s a big deal for them to tout themselves.”
Now in its ninth year, Blanton said she is still finding ways to keep the awards fresh and interesting and local.
“We strive every year to keep it as local as possible and even added the moniker of ‘local’ in several categories,”
Blanton said. “But we aren’t ignoring big business because some categories are dedicated solely to them like a category for best department store and grocery store.”
Restaurant Five Guys Burgers and Fries has been awarded in the past and have the recognition displayed in places as far away as Las Vegas, New Orleans and Panama City, Florida.
Winners are determined by number of votes, where one person may only vote for one business per category. The voting process begins with every establishment having a clean slate and only write-in votes are accepted. Blanton said the voter turnout has grown every year and that thousands participate.
Businesses receiving the most votes will be awarded a trophy and the first and second runners-up will get certificates. Voting polls open Feb. 1 and will close March 4. This year’s awards will feature a ceremony and after party at the Factory in Franklin on a date yet to be determined.
